PickTeamPlayers - PositionNotes
.PG John Wall - KentuckyJohn Wall has been projected to be the first pick in this draft since he had left high school. Most analysts are comparing Wall to Derrick Rose, which would be good news for the Wizards as he will start producing right away. Has all the tools to be an NBA point guard but will have to work on his outside shooting as it is an obvious flaw in his game and must be improved to become a star in this league.
.SG Evan Turner - Ohio StateTurner is the main competition to Wall for being the top pick in the draft. Turner has the ability to score at will and has shown he can carry the load for his team even in big games. Will have to work on some of the little things to perfect his game, but rest assured, this kid will be a star in Philly.
.PF Derrick Favors - Georgia TechThe New Jersey Nets obviously have a lot of needs for their team, but Favors is a physical talent that they most likely will not pass up on. Having Favors and Brook Lopez in the paint, along with picking up a star free agent, could help this team become contenders. Favors will have to work on his mid range shooting, but the way he finishes around the rim, he might not even need a mid range game.
.SF Wesley Johnson - SyracuseJohnson is going to be a solid wing player that will shoot well in the NBA. Very versatile both on offense and defense. Able to drive to the bucket effectively but will have to start absorbing contact especially at the next level. Not a huge upside, but should be a solid player in the NBA.
.PF/C DeMarcus Cousins - KentuckyCousins is going to be a solid pick for the Kings in the hopes he will improve their rebounding. Cousins is a strong presence in the middle and has big upside. Will have to work on his stamina as he tires quickly and will not last in an up-tempo offense. Will have to polish his offensive game a bit, but has the chance to be an All-Star in the future.
.PF/C Ekpe Udoh - BaylorUdoh has a chance to be quite a presence in the paint. An excellent rebounder, especially on the offensive end, he is very good with his form and is consistently around the ball. Has to work on his mid range game and will also need to hit the weight room to ensure his rebounding will stay strong at the next level. Overall, Udoh could solidify a good front line in the NBA and start contributing early.
.C Greg Monroe - GeorgetownMonroe is regarded by some to be the best center in this draft. Has great playmaking skills for a big man with over 200 assists in his college career and is a shot blocking threat and keeps the paint protected well. Will have to work on his physical attributes, but if Monroe gets in tip top shape, could improve his rebounding greatly. Expect him to help the Pistons get back to winning and possibly make it back to the playoffs.
.SG Xavier Henry - KansasHenry is quite a physical specimen with one of the best wingspans for a guard we have ever seen. Has good court vision and can make plays for others consistently and is able to jump out of the gym with a great vertical. He could be in a few dunk contests in his career. Has to work hard on his defensive abilities, as he lacks in all aspects on defense. In college, had slumps offensively and has to work on his scoring for the NBA. Overall, the Clippers are glad they have Blake Griffin for the first time, because this pick might not turn out as well as they expect.
.SF Luke Babbitt - NevadaBabbitt is a little bit of a risky pick this early in the draft, but does have the possibility to be a solid small forward for the Jazz. After losing Ronnie Brewer and Kyle Korver, Babbitt could be a solid replacement that could step in right away. Physically, Babbitt has all the tools and has a great offensive touch, but will have to work on his defense. Tends to have a slow first step on defense and does not have great shot blocking ability. With hard work on his defense, he could be a solid starter at the small forward position and help the Jazz in not losing a step with their offseason losses.
.PF Ed Davis - North CarolinaDavis is a very solid presence on the defensive end and should transition quite easily into the NBA. Unfortunately as good as his defense is, his offense is that much worse. Does not do that well finishing around the basket and has no mid range game. Offensive rebounds will be hard to come by at the next level. Will have to work hard on his offensive game, but if defense is all you will need from him, this would be a good choice at #10.
.SF Paul George - Fresno StatePaul George is lengthy player that can play either shooting guard or small forward at the next level. He has great work ethic and is striving to be on of the best playes in the draft. George still has a lot of work to do with his ball handling skills, as he had a turnover almost 20% of the time when he had the ball in his hands. He also has a great shooting stroke, as he shot 40% from three point range two seasons ago. His percentages went down a little last season, but he is dedicated to improve his range for the NBA and will give Chris Paul a guy to get the ball behind the arc.
.C Cole Aldrich - KansasEven though the Grizzlies were burned with their Hasheem Thabeet pick in last year's draft, they will attempt to make up for it by selecting Cole Aldrich with the 12th pick. Aldrich has quite a big upside with his defensive intelligence and physical strength that will help him transistion to the NBA. Will have to work on his offensive game, and do not expect him to start facing up defenders. Expect Aldrich to succeed as a starter in the NBA and will help the Grizzlies towards the goal of the playoffs.
.SF Gordon Hayward - ButlerHayward is going to be a risky pick for the Raptors, but having Cole Aldrich off the board right before this pick, they will end up settling for Hayward. He will most likely transition to a shooting guard as he lacks the strength for the SF position. Has a good shooting touch and good leaping ability and will have a good offensive game under his belt, but defensively will have to work on his game quite a bit. Likes to drive to the bucket and draw contact and get to the free throw line early and often. Might not contribute right away for the Raptors, but eventually could work his way into the starting lineup.
.SF Al-Farouq Aminu - Wake ForestAminu is a big body that is still growing and should fill in nicely for the small forward position. Aminu has a good first step and has an above average ability to get to the basket. Also has a good mid range game, but must work on his outside shooting for the position. The Rockets might stick him at the four position at times and see how he responds, but should be a good pick and contribute off the bench in his rookie season.
.PF Patrick Patterson - KentuckyPatterson is one of the smartest players from the All-Star Kentucky team and should use it to his advantage at the next level. Has a good offensive game and should bring it to the next level with his good work ethic. Also is very solid defensively and at worst, could be a defensive specialist for the Bucks. Could fit quite nicely with Bogut and will contribute to the team making out of the first round of the playoffs next season.
.PF Kevin Seraphin - FranceSeraphin is another big man in this draft that is physically gifted and has excellent defensive skills. Seraphin will be a back up to Kevin Love for quite a while, but eventually could play into a substantial role for the team coming off of the bench. Will have to work on his polish offensively, but will have a lot of time to work on it before really contributing to the team. This is more of a depth pick and will hope Seraphin could play quality minutes while Love is on the bench.
.SG James Anderson - Oklahoma StateJames Anderson will be a solid pick for the Bulls and should compliment Derrick Rose nicely as his three point shooter to dish out to. Still has to work on his mid range game and ability to take it to the rim if he plans on being a true threat. Also needs to work on his defense in order not to be a liability while he is on the floor. Anserson will be a decent role player and could put up some good points numbers with Rose's ability to drive to the basket.
.C Hassan Whiteside - MarshallWhiteside should provide solid shot blocking presence. Not known for his offensive abilities, do not expect him to put up big numbers as he will only score off putbacks and dunks. He should anchor the defense and cause teams to use their mid range shooting and fear taking it to the rim.
.SG Jordan Crawford - XavierCrawford will already bring fame to wherever he goes being known as the kid who dunked over Lebron James. Crawford has excellent offensive skills and can finish around the basket with an array of moves. Will need to work on his defense, especially being drafted by the defensive minded Celtics. If Crawford is able to perfect his shooting skills and become average on defense, could be the back up to the future shooting guard of the team and possibly start in the future.
.PF/C Craig Brackins - Iowa StateThe Spurs are very high on Craig Brackins in replenishing their front line. With Tim Duncan getting older, Brackins has all the skills to be a starter in this league. Had a weak season last year, but has the potential to be one of the top picks in this draft. Great draft pick yet again for the Spurs and expect Brackins to contribute early.
.PF Larry Sanders - VCUSanders is a unique player all-around. Has the least basketball experience out of anyone in the draft but is also one of the oldest in the draft. One of the more dominant shot blockers in the draft, his 7'8'' wingspan is very helpful and he is a very athletic front line player. Sanders will bring a defensive presence that the Thunder missed in their playoff series against the Lakers big guys. Sanders should be starting early and hopefully will develop into a well-rounded presence defensively for a team who has enough offense with their other four starters.
22. SG Dominique Jones - South FloridaJones is quite a risky pick regardless of the upside he has. Jones has a decent ability to drive to the basket and has a strong frame, which draws a lot of time at the free throw line. Jones unfortunately does not pose much of a threat with his jump shot, which could hurt his inside game in the NBA. Also, defensively is not up to par for NBA status so he has a lot of work to do to get decent playing time. If Jones can develop a jumper, he could eventually play his way in through his offense, but don't start betting on it just yet.
.SF Damion Jones - TexasJames is a solid pick defensively as he is able to cover the passing lanes and block shots quite well. Works hard every game and has a great work ethic, now just has to implement his work ethic into getting better offensively. Able to drive to the bucket well, but is not a threat around the perimeter, and even if he drives and gets to the free throw line, his accuracy is not consistent and will affect the T-Wolves. The coaching staff is able to mold James into a solid overall player, but do not wait around for that to happen.
.SF Quincy Pondexter - WashingtonPondexter is a good wing player with the ability to take the ball to the rim and finish strong. Even with his small frame, he is very physical and is not afraid to get into the paint. Does have to develop a jump shot in order to strike any fear into his defenders, but has a lot of work to do in order to develop that. Pondexter also has to improve his defensive abilities and his ball handling skills. The Hawks will hope for his upside to be high and then hopefully fulfill that upside.
.PG Eric Bledsoe - KentuckyBledsoe was lost in the hype of John Wall and will still end up being a first round pick. Bledsoe is a solid defender on the perimeter and is able to drive to the basket with great distribution when driving. Will have to develop his outside shot but could have an outstanding career with continued hard work and good coaching.
.C Tibor Pleiss - GermanyPleiss is going to be a work in progress for the Thunder in an attempt to mold him into a solid presence in the middle. Only averaging eight points and five rebounds in Germany, he has a lot to learn in order to develop an average offensive arsenal. Has the tools to be successful defensively, but has some work to do so he does not become a liability to his team on offense. Will come off the bench and if develops like expected, could start to receive some quality minutes in the future.
.PG Armon Johnson - NevadaJohnson is an all-around excellent athlete that is ready to become a pure point guard in the pros and is hoping a team will take the chance to see if he is the real deal. The Nets are willing to take any risk that can give them the possibility to win some games so expect them to take Johnson 27th overall. Has good ball handling skills and distributes well consistently. Has to work on a mid range jumper and improve his defense a little, but could turn out to be sleeper for New Jersey.
.C Daniel Orton - KentuckyThis pick being the third for the Grizzlies, it will be another pick for the front court in hopes for a successful pick. Orton coming out of high school was one of the best players in the country, but not having the numbers he expected in his freshman season, will need to prove himself to team in order for them to select him even in the 1st round. If Orton works hard enough to get back to his solid play, could make a difference early and often to Memphis and be yet another steal late in the draft.
.SG Terrico White - MississippiTerrico White is probably the best physical speciman at the draft. Has a freakish vertical leap and is a very good ball handler that is not willing to turn the ball over. Will have to work on his jump shot, especially the contested jumpers, and will need to work on his ability to drive to the rim. Also decent defensively and should eventually be a solid defender around the perimeter. Should be a contributing back up to Vince Carter or Jameer Nelson, depending on how the Magic choose to use him.
.C Tiny Gallon - OklahomaGallon can actually be a solid pick for the Wizards this late in the 1st round. Gallon has the potential to be an offensive threat when facing up the defender. Also has great rebounding skills and solid defensive skills to keep players from the paint. Will have to continue balancing out his game which should help him succeed and could eventually be a starter for the Wizards in the near future.
