2010 World Cup Power Rankings

RankPrevious RankCountryNotes
1.1 BrazilBrazil seems to be gaining momentum as each game is played. Much of their improvement can be attributed to Kaká becoming more assertive in the attacking third.
2.2 NetherlandsArjen Robben’s return resulted in a crucial goal. This squad has so many great players that work so well together.
3. 3 ArgentinaThe most explosive offense in the tournament has yet to be even remotely slowed down. Their defense will face their biggest challenge yet against a loaded Germany squad.
4.6 GermanyGermany continues to have a steady flow of elite young talent. Özil and Müller have emerged as stars much like Klose and Podolski did in previous World Cups.
5.5 SpainDavid Villa has carried the scoring load for Spain. If Fernando Torres can prove that he is 100%, their attack will gain another dimension that could put them over the top.
6.7 UruguayTheir classy finishing has catapulted them to the quarterfinals. What they must do better is maintain a lively attack throughout the match. They are prone to playing less aggressively once they gain the lead.
7.14 ParaguayThey haven’t scored a goal in their last two matches. A more forceful approach will be necessary if they wish to upset Spain.
8.16 GhanaUpsetting the US has gained them much international recognition. However, both of their goals against the US were the result of defensive blunders. They have still yet to prove they can create high percentage chances in the box.

These are awful. Shouldn’t make ridiculous claims that immediately disproved (such as the Kiwi’s drawing Italy, and really playing quite well).
