Shaun Alexander in the list over so many all time greats is sad too. Thurman Thomas, Terrell Davis, Franco Harris, Jerome Bettis, Gale Sayers, and quite a few more deserve Alexanders spot. Payton was in the same situation as Barry Sanders. Hew was their only offense. You couldn't name any of the QBs Walter played with before Jim McMahon, and even with McMahon he was the biggest part of their offense. He wasn't a great athlete as compared to Ray Lewis or Derrick Brooks (should be on this list), but he was the best linebacker. He could cover quite well, he was intelligent, he could shed a block and make a tackle, he could blitz, he is the most complete MLB on the list. Lewis is a close second and lambert would be third.
