Ray Lewis is the GREATEST MIDDLE LINEBACKER to play the game to date. Being a great middle linebacker has nothing to do with poor personal decisions. We should all be grateful that we aren’t judged on previous mistakes. Judge Ray Lewis on his ability to do his job. Maybe judge him on his path to redemption. Everyone makes mistakes… sometimes it’s just being at the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong people and being too young and stupid to remove yourself from a bad situation before it goes tragically south.

Say what you want about Ray Lewis, mistakes he’s made, but he is definitely the top middle linebacker. And while you’re judging him for his past, maybe you should take a good hard look at your own, and be glad that your past doesn’t define how people see you in the present.

Hey, Mike Singletary was NOT the Minister of Defense, that was Reggie White of the Packers. Because, you know, he was actually a MINISTER. I’m a girl, and was 10 in the mid-80s, and I KNOW THAT.

Have you ever heard of the Butkus Award? I don’t think there is a Ray Lewis Award for anything, anywhere. Dick Butkus is the best. Ray Lewis should have been arrested for murder and should still be in prison.

Was this list compiled by people who actually saw these guys play? I have been watching NFL football games for the past 55 years, and here is my list of the top 5 middle linebackers that I’ve seen play… #5. Willie Lanier #4. Ray Lewis #3. Ray Nitschke #2. Jack Lambert #1. Dick Butkus.

I agree with you and the MAJORITY of NFL fans, coaches, players past and present (in the vast majority of polls nationwide). RAY LEWIS: THE BEST MIDDLE LINEBACKER EVER. Mike Curtis should be in the top 5 somewhere. Curtis was once quoted as saying: “The only reason I play football is ’cause its the only place I can HIT someone legally.”

Brian McMullin is right. You have to include Tommy Nobis because, like Butkus, he played without much support at all. Which means double-teams. Can you imagine if he had a linebacking corps around him like the great defenses of the Steelers, Chiefs or Saints?

mike singletary only had 7 interceptions in his carrer..ironicly he had another carrer #7…helmets broke hitting people!!
