Top 10 Quarterbacks of All-Time
TweetSo another NFL season is in the books, and now it’s time to put a legitimate argument out there: The Top 10 Quarterbacks of All-Time. This is no ordinary list, though. Normally, when you’re sitting with friends and talking, you usually don’t have any readily available stats and instead use your own knowledge. I know because I am one of those guys, but I decided to change that. I’m going to give you my real top ten and the reasons why.
10.) Johnny Unitas – Baltimore Colts (1956-1973)
Career accomplishments:
- 10x Pro Bowler (1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1966, 1967)
- 6x All-Pro Selection (1957, 1958, 1959, 1964, 1965, 1967)
- 3x NFL MVP (1959, 1964, 1967)
- Named to 1960s All-Decade Team and 75th Anniversary All-Time Team
- 2x NFL Champion (1958, 1959), Super Bowl V Champion
Career Statistics:
| QB Rating | Passing Yards | TD-INT | Completion Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 81.2 | 40,239 | 290-253 | 54.6% |
This Colts quarterback, known as The Golden Arm, was a record setting quarterback in his time. His record of throwing a touchdown pass in 47 consecutive games is still unsurpassed. He was also the league’s MVP in 1959, 1964, and 1967. He is only 10th, however, because of his 253 interceptions in 211 games and he only averaged 190 yards per game in his career. Still, Unitas is one of the greatest of all-time.
9.) Kurt Warner – St. Louis Rams/Arizona Cardinals (1996-2009)
Career accomplishments:
- 4x Pro Bowler (1999, 2000, 2001, 2008)
- 2x All-Pro Selection (1999, 2001)
- 2x NFL MVP (1999, 2001)
- Most passing yards in one playoffs (1156 in 2008) and top 3 Super Bowl passing games
- Super Bowl XXXIV MVP
Career Statistics:
| QB Rating | Passing Yards | TD-INT | Completion Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 93.7 | 32,344 | 208-128 | 65.6% |
Kurt Warner was a 2-time MVP and a Super Bowl MVP. Warner is known as one of the most accurate quarterbacks in NFL history. He is one of only two quarterbacks ever to throw 100 touchdowns for two separate teams in his career. Warner also averaged 260 passing yards per game but injuries plagued his career and he was only able to play three full seasons in twelve years. Even though he had potential to be the best, he needed to stay on the field to earn that title.
8.) Steve Young – San Francisco 49ers (1985-1999)
Career accomplishments:
- 7x Pro Bowler (1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998)
- 3x All-Pro Selection (1992, 1993, 1994)
- 2x NFL MVP (1992, 1994)
- Highest QB rating amongst retired players
- 3x Super Bowl Champion (XXIII, XXIV, XXIX), Super Bowl XXIX MVP
Career Statistics:
| QB Rating | Passing Yards | TD-INT | Completion Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 96.8 | 33,124 | 232-107 | 64.3% |
Quite possibly the best left handed quarterback of all-time, Young started his career being overshadowed by the great Joe Montana, but eventually broke through that shadow and emerged as a Super Bowl winning quarterback. Young, a great scrambling quarterback, could make plays with his feet as well as his arm. Young was a part of one of the best QB/WR duos in NFL history with the great Jerry Rice. Young did not throw many touchdowns in his career and only averaged 196 yards a game which brings him down to 8th on the list which is still impressive but not the best.
7.) Warren Moon – Houston Oilers/Minnesota Vikings (1984-2000)
Career accomplishments:
- 9x Pro Bowler (1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997)
- 3x All-Pro Selection (1988, 1989, 1990)
- Offensive Player of the Year (1990)
- 5x Grey Cup Champion
- 2x Grey Cup MVP (1980, 1982)
NFL Career Statistics:
| QB Rating | Passing Yards | TD-INT | Completion Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 80.9 | 49,325 | 291-233 | 58.4% |
The great NFL/CFL quarterback is 7th on this list, and earned it with his 237 passing yards per game. Moon was one of the more clutch quarterbacks and was able to keep his team in the games with his miraculous arm. He started off underachieving his first couple of years in the NFL, but finally started to settle down to have a Hall of Fame career. He did throw 291 touchdowns, but Moon never won the big game in the NFL and only averaged 1.4 touchdowns per game compared to 1.12 picks per game, a relatively high ratio.
6.) John Elway – Denver Broncos (1983-1998)
Career accomplishments:
- 9x Pro Bowler (1986, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998)
- Named to 1990s All-Decade Team
- 1987 NFL MVP
- 2x Super Bowl Champion (XXXII, XXXIII)
- Super Bowl XXXIII MVP
Career Statistics:
| QB Rating | Passing Yards | TD-INT | Completion Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 79.9 | 51,475 | 300-226 | 56.9% |
The comeback kid ended up 6th on this list due to his clutch play and outstanding arm strength. Elway was known to have quite possibly the strongest arm the NFL has ever seen, and he used it to the best of his ability by throwing 300 TD passes in his career. Elway started off by losing his first three Super Bowl appearances, but finally got a team together and was able to win back-to-back Super Bowls to finish his career. Elway has 34 4th quarter/OT comeback victories and while that would normally land him higher on this list, his average of an interception per game in his career and the inability to win the big game early in his career moves him down to number six.
5.) Brett Favre – Green Bay Packers (1991-present)
Career accomplishments:
- 11x Pro Bowler (1992, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2009)
- 3x All-Pro Selection (1995, 1996, 1997)
- 3x NFL MVP (1995, 1996, 1997)
- Super Bowl XXXI Champion
- Career leader in passing TDs, INTs, yards, and consecutive starts for a QB (297)
Career Statistics:
| QB Rating | Passing Yards | TD-INT | Completion Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 86.0 | 71,775 | 507-335 | 61.9% |
A lot of people believe Favre to be #1 or #2 on the list, but I have a different opinion on Favre. Sure, he holds a lot of the records including touchdowns, yardage, wins, and consecutive starts. However, when you play in 300+ games, you’re eventually going to break some records. If you average out his stats per game though, he is not as good as advertised: 1.68 touchdowns per game and 238 yards per game. Unfortunately, when a QB has 335 interceptions in a career, the other stats lose some of their luster. Brett was able to win a Super Bowl in his career, but his interceptions ruined his chance from winning another as they came during the most inopportune moments. Now, if he wins another Super Bowl in 2011, then we will talk about this spot, but it looks like we’ve seen the last of Favre.
4.) Joe Montana – San Francisco 49ers (1979-1994)
Career accomplishments:
- 8x Pro Bowler (1981, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1993)
- 3x All-Pro Selection (1987, 1989, 1990)
- Named to 1980s All-Decade Team and 75th Anniversary All-Time Team
- 2x NFL MVP (1989, 1990)
- 4x Super Bowl Champion (XVI, XIX, XXIII, XXIV), 3x Super Bowl MVP (XVI, XIX, XXIV)
Career Statistics:
| QB Rating | Passing Yards | TD-INT | Completion Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 92.3 | 40,551 | 273-139 | 63.2% |
Known as Joe Cool, which matched up perfectly with the way he played. Montana was not exactly a record-breaking quarterback, but when you needed a play, he would deliver. Considering how clutch Montana played and his four Super Bowl titles, you would think he would be at the top of the list. Unfortunately, he only averaged 211 yards a game and 1.42 touchdowns per game, which is one of the lowest ratios amongst the great quarterbacks on this list. Throwing to the greatest wide receiver of all-time, Jerry Rice, those numbers have to be larger in order to make it to the top of this list.
3.) Tom Brady – New England Patriots (2000-present)
Career accomplishments prior to 2010 season:
- 5x Pro Bowler (2001, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009)
- 2x All-Pro Selection (2007, 2010)
- Named to 2000s All-Decade Team
- 2x NFL MVP (2007, 2010), Most passing TD in a season (50)
- 3x Super Bowl Champion (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX), 2x Super Bowl MVP (XXXVI, XXXVIII)
Career Statistics:
| QB Rating | Passing Yards | TD-INT | Completion Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 95.2 | 34,744 | 261-103 | 63.6% |
This pick some people will debate, but unless he spends his next few seasons throwing 20 picks a year, this will be as low as he goes on the list. Brady, who is only 32 years old at the time of this article, has been to four Super Bowls, winning three of them in clutch fashion. He also has won two Super Bowl MVP awards, two regular season MVP awards, and holds the record for most touchdown passes in a season (50). In his 129 games played (prior to 2010 season), he averaged 239 passing yards a game, 1.74 touchdowns a game, and an extremely low 0.77 interceptions per game; Brady is very careful with the ball. It also helps his reputation when he was at the helm of a team that won 21 straight games and then was the quarterback for a team that won another 18 games in a row, coming 35 seconds away from a 19-0 season. All those consecutive wins gives him the best win percentage for a QB. In a few years, he might move up or even move down, but as of this point, you have to give him his credit on a great career so far.
2.) Dan Marino – Miami Dolphins (1983-1999)
Career accomplishments:
- 9x Pro Bowler (1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995)
- 3x All-Pro Selection (1984, 1985, 1986)
- 1984 NFL MVP
- Most passing yards in a single season (5,084)
- 51 career game-winning drives in the 4th quarter/Overtime (including playoffs)
Career Statistics:
| QB Rating | Passing Yards | TD-INT | Completion Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 86.4 | 61,361 | 420-252 | 59.4% |
Wow, the great Dan Marino lands 2nd on the list, how could that be? Well, a quick glance over his career, and it seems it’s not great enough to be number one. Marino has always been plagued by the same argument – you cannot be the best if you have never won a Super Bowl. Unfortunately, I buy that argument. But there are other factors as well. Marino may have thrown 420 touchdowns and passed for 61,000 yards, but when you average his numbers per game, he averaged 1.74 touchdowns, and over one interception a game. It is still a great career that had some great accomplishments, but his numbers were not strong enough to overcome the fact he has not won a Super Bowl. Great career Dan, and congratulations on being number 2 on the list.
1.) Peyton Manning – Indianapolis Colts (1998-present)
Career accomplishments prior to 2010 season:
- 10x Pro Bowler (1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009)
- 5x All-Pro Selection (2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009)
- 4x NFL MVP (2003, 2004, 2008, 2009)
- Named to 2000s All-Decade Team
- Super Bowl XLI MVP
Career Statistics:
| QB Rating | Passing Yards | TD-INT | Completion Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 94.9 | 54,828 | 399-198 | 64.9% |
Well, I’m sure this is not a big surprise. Peyton is number 1 in a lot of people’s eyes, and there are a lot of reasons to support him being there. Manning started off a little bumpy early in his career and threw a good amount of picks (81 in his first four years), but he has bounced back strong. Prior to 2010, Manning averaged 261 passing yards per game, which includes games where he started and got benched because his team had already clinched a playoff spot. Most quarterbacks can say that happened one or two times in their career, but it seems that Peyton has it happen every year. He also averages 2 touchdowns for every interception he throws, an incredible ratio. If Peyton continues his pace, he should break every career record in the book, except for interceptions, which is a record I am sure he does not want. Manning, even though he has only one Super Bowl ring, still deserves to be number 1 with all his other accomplishments (4-time MVP). He is known as one of the smartest quarterbacks of all-time, and single-handedly runs a top-three offense every year.
Well, that is the top 10 quarterbacks of all-time. Each player has a compelling argument as to why they are in that spot. I know a lot of people are going to argue certain players in certain spots, but debate is one of the great things about sports. Looking at all the numbers of all the historic quarterbacks and analyzing their careers, I feel this is quite an accurate listing. Now, we just have to look forward to a few years from now and see what new QB’s emerge.

Great list! Im not going to lie, I am a little biased on Johnny U and I believe he should be up at about 9 lol, but when you look at his stats its kinds hard to argue him above anyone but Kurt Warner lol. Not to mention i cant stand warner. Great Number One pick, he is deff going to surpass many records as his career progresses

I like all your arguments. First off I did not want to put Favre that high considering he holds the records for most interceptions in a career, which a lot of them happen to be at crucial times of crucial games. I also understand Marino should not have been so high, but football being one of the ultimate team sports, I figured you put Marino on one of the teams Montana or Manning had, he would have a ring on his finger right about now. Now, hearing that Brady is garbage is a litte hurtful, but lets look at his career. He has won three Super Bowls, two of which he had game winning drives in the final minutes. He holds the record for most touchdowns in a single season and only throwing 100 picks in 129 games is pretty damn good considering he did a lot with receivers named Deion Branch, David Givens, and David Patten. Last but not least, Bradshaw does not belong on this list for a few reasons. His career numbers were not that great, he was not known for his clutch moments, and his Super Bowls were won in large part to his defense. Thanks for all the arguments guys, keep them coming.

Sorry Moon was not better than Troy Aikman, one of the most accurate passers ever and has 3 titles. Not to mention toward the end when the line and receiver corp declined, he was getting concussions and guys were dropping balls that were thrown dead on dropping his rating, and of course Emmitt running all the time.

Troy Aikman- First overall draft pick (1989)…3x Super Bowl Champion, Winningest starting quarterback of any decade with 90 of 94 career wins occurring in 1990s, He held or tied 47 Dallas passing records…Posted 13 regular season and four playoff 300-yard passing games…6x Pro Bowler, All-Pro 1993, 2x All-NFC Second Team (1994, 1995) And as stated before sadly, the team was declining hard his last year and his stats helped kill his overall rating with dropped balls and no protection.

Manning is the best QB hands down today, hes got the eye of the tiger. You cant rate with your heart. I believe Aikman should have made the list over Warner. And I think Montana should be at least number two. Stats are one thing, but being clutch is another, and no one did it when it MATTERED more then Joe. I almost believe Manning needs to win one more Super Bowl to ensure his spot at number one over Joe. And I am a Manning fan.

Nice job on this article. Though I will quibble a bit: First off, Elway should rate a notch or two higher on this list. (And I’m a Redskins fan.) Elway had a cannon of an arm, great mobility, and more importantly HE CARRIED HIS TEAM BY HIMSELF TO THREE SUPER BOWLS before finally winning two more at the end of career. Those first three Super Bowls were all on Elway–the Broncos as a team were mediocre to poor. His WRs and RBs during those years were average at best, as was his defense. Joe Montana was clutch and he should be a notch or two higher. Secondly, Kurt Warner does not belong on the list at all–Warner was Mark Rypien with greater longevity and better consistency. Warner had a superb supporting cast of WRs both with the Rams and Cardinals, plus M. Faulk with the Rams, and that is what made him. Also, what about Dan Fouts?

This….is a joke yes?
First off Manning has not surpassed Montana in any facet unless you really put all your stock in MVP awards which are subjective, Brees and Peterson won the last two Bert Bells not Manning.
Secondly, to put Unitas at #10 says a lot about your lack of NFL history knowledge. Not to be too harsh but please go watch some more tape and give respect where it’s due. I’ve seen some people put Manning at #5, but #1 and Montana at #4 is simply ignorant.
I recently completed 100 greatest quarterbacks list, I have been showcasing in a few forums before I write the full on article which will be dozens of pages long.
You, need to do more research.

@Alexeiv: You just used over three paragraphs in a comment to tell someone that your opinion is better than theirs. I don’t think I need to elaborate on the problems with that. I’m not sure I would want to read an article by you, especially if it is screened first by some random forums. Because we all know how knowledgeable the average forum goer is.
I like the list. I would flip around some of your top 5 but I can see how you came to the conclusions you did.

I agree with some parts of this list, especially Brett Favre not being on him, u cant throw that many int and be considered top 10. I like Peyton Manning behind Montana as the number 2 slot and Montana number 1. Joe Montana had Rice, but when he went to Kansas City, he led them to the AFC championship. Come on we are talking about the Chiefs back then, so u can’t deny he won those 4 Super Bowls also and Should be considered the greatest QB of all-time

The list is accurate. Tom Brady has a chance to go up, but Peyton Manning will not fall to No. 2. His teams that he played for would have not ever reached .500 without him. He will blast all the records before his career is done, with the exception of interceptions. I am a Favre fan, a Marino fan, a Montana fan, a Warner fan, a Brady fan, and an Elway fan, but when credit is due, you have to give it. The G.O.A.T. I am a Texans fan and I tell my dad when we are winning in the 4th quarter of a game, “I have seen this movie before, I know how it ends.” Get a better team Peyton, the Colts without you are less than average.

I like the list, but I completely disagree with Favre. Prior to his 2009 season with the Vikings, he was at best average for 6 or 7 years. Many of his picks literally took the Packers out of the playoffs. There is no way Favre is higher on any list then Roger Staubach. The Cowboys were never out of a game when he was on the field, and he never took his team out of a game. Nice work!

I think it is funny to see all the people riding Manning’s jock. He has great numbers but has to be on Par with Brett for choking in the big situations. Look at all the playoff games where he couln’t stop throwing to the Pats defense. I actually like Manning and have since Tennessee but less so after he continually refuses to take personal blame for a loss after he throw three interceptions in a playoff game. He finally did get that monkey off his back when he won a ring and had that not happened nobody would have him at number one. And also people wanna talk about how the colts are less than average without him. What top receiver did Brady have when he won two rings?? If you wanna talk about having Jerry Rice as a knock for Montana then why can’t you bring up having Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne. He has almost always had a top tier receiver to throw to so that puts manning down a notch.

My personal opinion list
1.Joe Montana 4-0 in SBs. 3 SB MVPs. 2 regular-seaon MVPs. 8 division
championships. 6 NFC Championship Game appearances. Beat both Elway
and Marino in Superbowls. (Montana’s combined number in the 2 Super
bowls vs Marino and Elway: 46-64 628 yds 8 tds, 0 INTS). 2 Superbowl MVPs before Rice arrived in 1985. Career 11 tds. 0 INTS in SBs.
Should’ve had a 5th Ring and 3rd in a row if he wasn’t knocked out
of the 1991 NFC Championship Game in the 4th quarter, which the
Giants won 15-13. All of this from only 1981-1991. And for those
who say he sucked in Kansas City, he was like 64 and still took them
to the AFC Chamionpship Game.
2. Johnny Unitas
3. Tom Brady
4. John Elway
5. Peyton Manning
6. Brett Favre
7. Dan Marino
8. Otto Graham

This list is upsetting, do I need to remind everyone that Joe Montana is the greatest without a sliver of doubt. 1st year as the starting qb at Notre Dame, he led them to a national title over the heavily favored Texas( 38-10). 1st year as the 49ers starter he led them to super bowl victory over the heavily favored Bengals, with a no name team I might mention, thus creating the begining of arguably the greatest NFL dynasty of all time and erasing the stigma of being a 49ers fan forever. Montana then 3 years later beat the favored Marino led dolphins in super bowl XVIII, easily I might add grabbing his second superbowl MVP award without Rice, just to mention again. Montanas 4th super bowl victory was the most amazing performance in super bowl history in my opinion. Montana single handedly dismantled the #1 defense in the NFL making San Francisco appear to be out of their league and basically scored on Denver at will. Montana also played in a very talented era in the toughest conference (NFC) and made it look simple. By the way in his 1st year with Kansas city, he also took them to the AFC championship game, and was unfortunately knocked out of the game. We will never know what could have been but the bottom line is everywhere the man goes the team wins. I cant say the same for the rest of these quarterbacks. Montana is a winner and thats why he is the greatest…..

This is a joke right? alright ill start with the easy ones- firstly your argument with peyton being one is he has an average team he lost early but then one a ingle superbowl out of two hes been in? awesome well Elway took his average team to more and won more then Peyton even if his ratio was a little better, regardless elway was a better leader so im bumping peyton back to 5 and elway to 4 – next tom brady has record breaking numbers hes crisp great leader and plays big when it matters, he will get number 2 based on that, next joe montana has how many rings? oh and he won one with a tight end as his leading wr? and he was the best clutch QB of all time? undisputed number 1. and due to tony montana and brady moving back dan marino moves back to 3. having said that dan marino was the best PASSER of all time but not the best QB if only he had a ring.. oh well

I know this list is purely opinion so I can’t say it’s wrong and this guy probably knows way more about football then me but I would have Big Ben on the list over a few of these guys. I love him. just hide your daughters.

Not a bad list. I’ve seen all these guys play and I have to say Montana was the best I’ve ever seen. I would have put Otto Graham in here based on his sheer number of championships.

Peyton Manning is a great regular season quarterback.Very well should be in this list.Look at his post record,9wins and 10 losses. Not good for greatest of all time. Will be a Hall of Fame Qb with 1 SuperBowl or none.As for being #1???Maybe 1B and Montana 1A?Peyton is great but that post season record not impressive.Sports nuts dont really talk about that.

Your list is flawed. No Staubach on this list? Staubach is easily in the top 10..

One thing I forgot. My rating starts with 1967. Greatest ancient QBs
Unitas – Graham – Baugh. I really like Baugh, because when I was 10 or so I read a biography about him. Felt like I knew the man. The uncrowned “King of the Short Pass”.
But getting back to my first comment, I have spent a lot of time researching Quarterbacks. But any halfways competant guy on a great team can hit a lucky streak and make it to the big ench, like Stan Humphries or David Woodley. or some guy named O’Donnel or Kerry Collins. But when a guy keeps on repeating, there is just something there that goes beyond talent. Everybody’s laughing stock, Ben Roethlenberger has it, and Dan Marino doesn’t. Brady & Bradshaw have it, Peyton Manning & Brett Farve just do not, or if they do, it is in small measure.

Marino over Montana?? I remember all the hype over the Super Bowl
when they met……Dolphins would win because they had the best
quarterback and the best defense. Montana destroyed them.
4-0 in superbowls, 3 superbowl MVPs (should be 4) and the most
clutch in the most high pressure games………..Joe is #1.

YOU can’t take this list seriously…Most of these QB’s listed are hi yardage passing QB’S under a new rules era to protect the QB…NEW RULES, NEW PASSING RECORDS…IF YOUr’e JUST LOOK AT NUMBERS for the best QB is, WE SHOULD BE LOOKING AT HOW MANY SUPERBOWL RINGS they have achieved….ONE ISN”T ENUFF

This is another list made by someone who didn’t do his homework. Montana was the best WINNER of all time and that was in collage too. As far as his numbers go he played in a different era. Back then corners didn’t get called for pass interference if the blew on the receiver. Also Montana had a running back so he didn’t have to ( And would have been stupid to!) put the ball in the air 40 times a game. When he played he considerably led the league in yards per completed pass and completion percentage. He went to four Super Bowls, won them all and was MVP in three of them! After he left the Forty niners his lifetime stats dropped a bit due to age and playing with the Chiefs who where at best mediocre. To put Marino, ( He lost the one Super Bowl he went to and played poorly )Brady, and Manning ahead of him tells me the auther looks at nothing but stats.

Please excuse the typo’s ( Consistently led the league not considerably ) in my last comment. Unwisely I did not proof read it.

i don’t know how much crack u guys are on but i think tom Brady i think should be #2 disagree but if your going by skill and overall who is the better QB peyton manning is a cocky and has only won, one super bowl Brady has won 3 and he is a very accurate passer but i think dan marino or joe montana is number #1 but at this day in age its between brady and peyton i think brady.. but their are also many other good quarter backs (rising stars) like drew bree’s tough one tombrady #2 peyton #3

OMFG…manning… u must be joking…one super bowl makes you the greatest quaterback ever? Manning is lucky to make the list let alone number one. He has been to less than half as many super bowls as tom brady…who hands down is number one i mean you can hate the man all you want but all he does is win super bowls and manning has been in the league 13 yrs with ONE count them ONE super bowl win at least put montana above him my god this list is aweful.

I will say that if i had to re look at this list, I would put Brady number 1, Manning number 2, Montana 3 and Marino 4 but the rest of the list would stay the same barring Eli breaking into it. Brady is the greatest quarterback I have ever seen throughout a whole career. Regardless of what people say about Manning, he is amazing. Just look at the team without him – that right there says how good he is to raise a bunch of nobodies to a Super Bowl title. Brady 1, manning 2, just look at the stats.

[...] is why when we look at the lists of top 10 QBS we see familiar names but often in different orders. Some will put Peyton Manning and Dan Marino at the top because of the stats despite the lack of cham…. Others will go with Joe Montana because of the 4 rings and clutch [...]

Are you kidding me, Peyton is better than Montana ?? Are you serious, better than Brady. What about Namath, Johnny U 10th, Staubach, Aikman, Bradshaw ?? Wow, how stupid can you really be. Ever heard of Otto Graham, remember there was football before 98. Dude look at history.Montana’s numbers smoke Mannings, gezz get a clue , Hell lets go ahead and put Romo up there, throw in Luck cause he is gonna be, lets see, Jim Kelly, Trent Dilfer won a S.B., Lol, wow, what a list

montanna …no doubt…[i am a favre fan]..unitas lot of good ones…and all the manning brady supporters should remember that those 2 play in an era where THE RECEIVERS ARE NOT MUGGED LIKE THEY WERE IN THE 90S AND FURTHER BACK [makes a big difference]…. and the safety rules for the qbs also play a factor now a days…..montanna has to be the best clutch qb of all time…and all those brady fans can now as on march 2012 only say brady 3 superbowl wins but have to add 2 losses to that. the safety brady took and the bad pass to welker were game breakers.

manning at number 1 that’s stupid runs like a girl chokes in every big game only reason he’s got a Superbowl win is because a bigger choker was on other side rex grossman do you forget he fumbled 3 or 4 * in the second half without even being hit 2 pics 1 for a touchdown never seen Payton break out of a tackle to throw a pass or run actually half the guys on that list couldn’t have played in the old days I don’t know what games you been watching or you just can’t see sorry that’s the way it is football is like the military the best defense is a strong offense I mean seriously? besides Elway and a couple of the others when the line breaks down or nobody’s open they just threw it away the greatest quarterbacks could run also !!!

You got to be kidding me Peyton & Marino better then Brady & Montana hell no Peyton is a Dome QB no Dome QB has ever made it to the Super Bowl on the rode he always chocked when games was on line. Now he doesn’t Brady has beat him 9-4 Brady when 3 out of 5 Super bowls Payten he’s in top 10 not sure where but it’s not 1, 2 or 3 when he can win in bad weather then maybe 3. let see when Brady gets won 3 Bowls with no Buddy’s Montana won 4 bowls Stats don’t make you a Great QB it is Ability to win in any situation, and Payton can’t Eli is brother can. Eli is better then him. Other then that order is good but Montana 1 Brady 2 and you can ask anyone in NFL that question and they will all tell you Brady & Montana are better…

I think the list was well done, Montana And Brady are great quarterbacks but they where on great teams many of the forty niner teams had double digit players in the pro bowl. in 2008 when brady was hurt Matt castle came in and the team didn’t miss a beat they went 11/5 when Payton went down in 2011 the colts go 2/14 payton was the team. the same with John Elway when they went to the super bowl it was on John elway it wasn’t untill they got a few good players around him that the they won big. Same dith Dan Morino had he been on some of the fourty niners teams they would have had a couple undefeated season Dan singlehandly wiped the 85 bears with the Dolphins had the number 27 ranked defense. So if your just talking quarterback play if Joe Montana or Tom Brady had been on some of those Denver teams tha Elway took to the superbowl and lost they wouldn’t even have been in the superbowl. so I think the list is pretty good
